Ruth Roman was born on June 22, 1939 at Lynn Massachusetts. Ruth Roman is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. The young woman was just a toddler when her father who was an carnival barker, died. Her mother had to take on jobs such as waitressing and cleaning. Ruth was raised in a poor neighborhood of Boston Massachusetts where she attended high school. She quit the institution she was in just two years later in pursuit of the profession of acting. The path she chose was filled with problems. After obtaining a position in New York as a model for a detective magazine she found it difficult to secure work on stage. Then in NYC, she worked at a bar as an entry-point girl, before quitting and moving back to Boston. She was in Boston where she worked during the late night, she was an actor for New England Repertory Company and for the remainder of her time as an usherette. She studied drama in The Bishop-Lee Theatre School and graduated.
